Evening around the holidays finds the Epiphyte clinic decorated with a few modest greeneries around the doorway. The 7th Wave's Hummer's engine comes to a rumbling stop in the parking lot in front of the doors. Through the glass, one of the clinics staff - a tabby cat some may know as Tam can be seen holding a clipboard in the middle of the lobby. He's just walked in from one of the hallways and stopped to stare at something intently off to the side beyond the view from outside.

Orion unlocks the doors of the vehicle, and turns off the radio. Seems like every station plays nothing but seasonal pieces this time of year. "Here we are. I'd have to say this is one of the better reasons I've been to the clinic for."

Sam opens the door and climbs out of the hummer, commenting, "Well, I'm sure that you've had all manners of good times here in the past." The cat seems to have come prepared to enter the hospital with a surgeon's mask and gloves (though Sam isn't wearing them quite yet). Just to keep the germs away, though.

Jericho is following along behind Orion, not as dressed up festively, but he's atleast not dirty with ships grease or the like, but to be specific he's wearing a forest green sweater and a pair of khakis for the sake of dressing up as he gives a wave to Sam with a smirk and looks to Orion after a moment, "I'd 'ave to agree with that sentimen'."

Orion chuckles easily, popping his door and hopping out with a light step. He reaches back in to grab something quickly, stowing it in a pocket before closing the door. His pocket... jingles? "Aye, you speak the truth."

A familiar red Jeep pulls up not long after the Hummer, Uriko climbing sliding out of the side and landing lightly on the ground. She's somewhat more dressed up than usual, wearing a sleeveless knee-length blue dress, apparently silk or something like it, along with a gold necklace with a matching blue gem. Still no shoes - she could wear them, but doesn't really like 'em much. "Hey!" she calls, waving to the others.

Jericho lifts a paw to wave towards Uriko with a grin then looks back towards Orion as his ears perk at the jingle noise curiously, but he doesnt prod, "So, what're the plans after this whole rigamarole."

Sam blinks a few times at Uriko showing up, commenting idly, "Hm. She actually looks pretty okay today." The feline slips the surgeon's mask on and looks towards the clinic.

Orion glances at Uriko as she catches his attention, then over to Sam and then Jericho. "Not sure. Your friend seems overdressed for cider back at the house." He gives the friend in question a wave after he's given his two cents.

"Well, at least she doesn't look like a boot, that's all I'm saying," notes Sam quietly, shrugging.

Jericho just smiles and shakes his head as he herds the group towards the door one way or another as he comments, "Well let's find the news then get drunk eh?" he gives a quick laugh.

Sam slips the latex gloves on and heads into the clinic, now fully prepared to meet and do battle with the germs therein.

The scene within is fairly normal at first sight. Tam stands up against the wall in the middle of the lobby near a couple of supply shelves taking inventory notes, but he's peridically distracted looking across the room to the left. Kalysa is bent over at the middle pushing supplies onto a low shelf on the left wall from a roll cart, intently focused on her work and unawares of her surroundings - or the door chime, which seems to have failed due to a stray piece of greenery stuck between the door and its threshold. The typically professional tigress is wearing something a little different than her labcoat today.

Tam looks over his shoulder at the door and raises a curious eyebrow at Sam.

Orion trails in behind the irbis when allowed room.

Jericho's gaze sweeps the room before landing on Kaly with a browperk, but he refrains from commentary just yet as he smirks a touch while whiching Orion start to trail ahead.

Sam allows room pretty quickly, stepping away from the door. The snow leopard nods idly at Tam in greeting and then glances towards Kalysa, "Hey, people."

Kalysa scrambles to get upright when she hears someone else in the room, whacking her head on the shelf above her lightly. She stands up holding on to her head, blinks a couple times, then lets go when she figures she's alright. Her eyes rest on the newcomers and she says awkwardly, "H-hello! ...I wasn't...er... expecting you until tommorow." She looks over at the calendar on the wall. "Or... nevermind." She turns back and smooths the fringe of her skirt out to make sure it's at its full length. The inside of her ears are a bit flushed now.

Tam snickers quietly to himself and walks over to the desk to drop off the clipboard he was working on. "The guest you brought us is still in the back. Ugly fellow, especially cut open."

Orion does a double-take when he sees Kalysa, then muffles a laugh that comes out as a snerk.

Jericho lifts his paw in a wave before he cracks a grin, "Lookin' good" he chuckles then looks to Tam, "Ah that contestan' surely ain't winnin' the beauty pageant no."

Uriko follows in the door after Jericho - looking slightly embarassed. "This is too much, isn't it? I'm horrible with clothes," the girl sighs, shrugging as she wanders in. "I guess I coulda just gone with the normal stuff and been okay..."

The masked and gloved feline blinks a few times at Kalysa and notes, "Huh. That's an interesting choice in dress." Sam shrugs and chuckles softly, and asks, "Who put you up to wearing that?" The feline then comments to Tam as an aside, "You should have seen it while it was wriggling and jumping. It was a lot more pretty, then." The feline only affords a glance to Uriko and a shrug.

Kalysa's ears lower and she slumps a little, muttering, "I lost a bet. Don't ask."

Tam cackles knowingly, but betrays nothing further.

Jericho looks over to Uriko after a moment as he offers a smile, "Naw, yer just showin' up the rest of us." he chuckles before looking back Kal's way, "Ah." he seems amused at the least, but doesn't prod the matter further, likely leaving it for others.

Orion smirks. "To each their own, when it comes to fashion..." He reaches in his pocket and takes out the source of the jingling - a jingle bell on a simple cord necklace. He tosses it to Kalysa. "...and accessories. I wasn't expecting it'd go so well with your outfit!"

Kalysa catches it, looks at it in her hand, then at each pair of eyes watching her. "You can't be seri-...." She trails off when Orion doesn't crack, putting on a very practiced poker face and slipping it around her neck before traipsing off into the rear hallway. "Lets get this over with." The bell rings gleefully as she moves.

"Gambling on the job? Dreadful behaviour, that," says Sam. The feline looks up and down at Uriko and says, "Maybe you're a bit overdressed... Maybe I'll take you with me shopping sometime, show you what's suitable for what. And it's always good to have someone to carry stuff."

"Oh, well, um, okay," Uriko blinks at Sam somewhat - but seems aimable to the idea. She smiles back at Jer, "I borrowed it from someone. I don't really own a whole lot of nice clothes," she laughs, eyes travelling over to Kalysa... of course, things could always be worse, now couldn't they?

Kalysa offers only a steely glare over her shoulder at the comments. She turns back around and keeps walking. "Come on back." Her voice is even. "Have a look at Wilson."

Jericho looks to Uriko with a smile and shrugs, "Its nice, don't getcher self down yanno?" he chuckles then purses his lips as he looks back to Kal, things could be worse yes, he bites his tongue to refrain from some crack and trails along behind the group.

Orion follows along with a quick retort. "Wilson? I already named him Jim!"

Tam offers, "I figured him for a Gus, but I liked Wilson." He picks up a tablet computer and sets about working on something. It appears he intends to stay at the desk.

Sam shrugs, "I've called him Mr. Wiggles this whole time in my journal entries. But I guess Wilson Wiggles would do fine..." The feline shrugs idly and follows after Kalysa.

Jericho hmmms as he brings up the rear and offers forward, "Jim Wiggles Wilson? Glad we put 'em outta his misery."

At the rear of the clinic, the hallway turns - it's a U shape that leads back to the front on the other side. The tigress pushes open a set of double doors at the middle of the U and walks inside. The room is fairly obvious in purpose - it's a morgue. A set of body storage drawers is the first sight that greets you along with a brisk breeze from the climate control system. Each drawer bears only a number label. A single operating theatre is set up to one side of the room, and a laboratory table fills the space on the other side. "Welcome to the first circle of hell." The festively attired feline pulls an apron off of the wall behind the door and puts it on over her outfit - which allows her significantly more modesty. In the front. She moves to the drawers and pulls one open. The worm's body has been cleanly sliced in two and pulled open. The contents inside have obviously been disturbed. It has a ribbed structure along its length similar to a skeleton, and a number of unfamiliar looking organs visible.

"Yeah, no wonder he was so angry if he had to grow up with that name..." Uriko smirks, pausing as the enter the room with the corpse, "Bleh. That's gross," she wrinkles her nose a little bit from the smell of the thing.

Sam deadpans while walking along, "Wiggles is the last name. He was so close to getting his PhD in, uh, burrowing? Could've been Dr. Jim Wilson Wiggles. Kind of sad that it got cooked when it did, really." The cat walks towards the worm corpse to get a bit of a closer look, but pauses short of getting too close without an apron of some sort on. "I'll have to take a closer look at it later when I'm wearing something less made of silk. Just for curiosity's sake."

Kalysa wrinkles her nose for only a moment, then grabs a pair of disposable gloves out of her apron. "The other aprons are folded up in the cabinet left of the door. Box of gloves in the same place, if you want to get handsy." She pauses, her second glove stretched over her hand as she adds, "...with Dr. Wiggles, that is." The latex snaps audibly as she lets the glove go.

Orion stands off to the side to have a look at the thing from a safe distance. He remains quiet.

Jericho steps close enough without seeming too off put by the smell but not close enough to really have to worry about his clothes either, not that he's immune at all to the smell though as he sucks his cheek. His eyes flick up to Kal with the comment before he smirks, "Well, if nothing else can be said fer Dr. Wiggles 'e certainly 'as an interestin' physiology."

Sam is already wearing a pair of latex gloves, but heads over to grab one of the aprons, putting it on. "Mmhmm, lets check this thing out!" says the feline, approaching the worm closely and eyeing the exposed organs a bit. "It's going to be hard to identify lots of these parts."

Kalysa pulls the tray holding the corpse out of the drawer and places it on the operating table. "Indeed. These things don't have any ocular organs of any kind, they're blind." She reaches in and pulls an elongated entrail that seems to stretch for the entire length of the creature. "Simple digestive tract - contents were a mix of small desert wildlife, traces of cacti, rubber, aluminium, and other trace metals. I'd say it can eat just about anything. Passes straight through."

Kalysa says, "Christmas dinner must have been less than glorious."

Kalysa continues her brief summary by picking up another organ. It looks severely damaged. "Cause of death appears to be cardiac rupture." She puts it back and indicates the large cord-like structure beside the digestive tract. "That seems to be the central nerve. My guess is since it feeds directly into the heart, the muscle fibers ripped from the contraction caused by your tazer." She moves the cord around for demonstration, then backs away to give others room. "You're welcome to poke it for as long as you wish. Report's on the table over there. I need to finish restocking the front so I can get out of here for the evening." She begins removing her gloves...

Uriko seems to have escaped having to actually touch the dead worm! Good for her! Funny that she finds it so repulsive though - likely if she knew more about it it wouldn't be much different from gutting a fish or something... "How about if I don't wanna poke it at all?" she jokes, glancing to the others.

Sam nods a couple of times and says with respect to the explanation, "Makes sense. My field is not biology, but this is just such a neat looking piece of flesh." The feline takes a step towards the body and prods at some parts gently, trying to move them, very careful not to let any worm goo get onto the threads. Reading the report will come later. "Have fun restocking."

Orion picks up the report and leafs through it briefly, then hands it to Jericho as he watches Sam.

Jericho looks over at Uriko as he hooks his thumbs in his pockets with a grin, "Ahm game fer that, really." he chuckles before looking back towards the others breifly before being interupted by the report, which he leafs through, pausing on any particular notes of interest to his eyes then offers it Sams way unless Uriko wants a glance, "Well, better question is this thing native."
